SOCIAL DWELLING JANITZIO

These set of 12 apartments for a vertical dwelling was a proposal for a contest launched  by one of the most important companies of housing development in Mexico named GEO. Because of the continued expansion and lack of housing in the city, they look for a new prototype of housing in a vertical way. In this way, they take advantage of the land capacity and they fit more apartments on it.

The purpose of the project was to fit 12 small apartments for families of 4 members without decreasing the quality of life but in contrast to increasing it. Also, the optimization and design of furniture were crucial points in the design.

Apartment of 7m x 3m form by modules:
1 module: 1.5 m x 3 m
1/2 module: 1.75 m x 1.5 m
1/4 module: 0.87 mx 0.74 m

The designing of furniture was essential for the proposal  because  of the reduced space it was necessary to incorporate them in order to allow their inhabitants to have the furniture they are used to, without punishing space or taking away furniture.

The structure is made of reinforced concrete for columns and beams. The floors are of the prefabricated vault that optimizes time and  money in construction.

In order to take advantage of technology and improve the quality of life of the residents, the project contemplates sustainable features as a green wall, solar heaters, and panels.
